So… You Are Ready To Test Out!

Congrats! You’ve finished your coursework and your supplemental hours — now it’s time to bring it all together and officially get certified.

You’ve learned the material, logged your hours, and now it’s time to demonstrate your ability to teach — clearly, safely, and confidently. This is your moment to show us how you think, cue, and connect.

Before you schedule your test out make sure you have:

✔️ Completed all of the hours required for your apparatus coursework (did you have to leave early one day? Did you make up those hours?)

✔️ Completed our virtual anatomy course (seriously, like really watched it and took notes - anatomy is part of the test out)

✔️ Completed and logged all of your supplemental hours for EACH apparatus (if you are testing out in more than one)

How to Schedule Your Test Out

Email us at education@kinkpilates.com with

  • Subject line: “ready to test out”

  • Which certification you are testing out for

  • Attach your hour logs

  • Attach your receipt for the virtual anatomy course

  • List of at least 3 preferred dates and times

**Note: all test outs are held at Kink Pilates. We can occasionally accommodate alternate test out locations but that is at the discretion of our Master Trainers and may be subject to an additional fee.

A NOTE ABOUT ANATOMY: While the anatomy test out is available as a virtual option (taking it though the same portal as the course) we recommend completing it in person as part of your practical test out. Taking both portions together helps streamline the certification process and ensures we can support you directly if any questions come up. It’s a smoother, more integrated experience

What The Certification Test Out Process Looks Like…

Your certification exam has two components: the written exam and the practical exam. Each one assesses a different part of your training — what you know, and how you apply it.

✏️ Written Exam

A multiple-choice exam to test your understanding of the material you’ve learned.

    •    30–40 multiple-choice questions

    •    Covers: exercises, safety, modifications, and class design

    •    One exam per module (e.g. mat, reformer, tower, etc.)

    •    No time limit — take it at your own pace

  •    This test is not open book

Practical Exam

A live teaching exam where you demonstrate your ability to lead a session confidently and safely.

    •    Teach a short session to a Teacher Trainer or to another “body”

    •    You’ll cue, sequence, correct, and modify in real time

    •    You may be asked to teach specific exercises or choose your own

    •    Must be taken in person

Things to note for the practical exam

You may be asked to explain or apply concepts like:

    •    Dominant spinal motion in each exercise

    •    Prime mobilizers and stabilizers

    •    Appropriate modifications for various populations

    •    Contraindications and safety considerations

    •    “What would you do if…” style client scenarios

This is about clarity, confidence, and safety — not perfection.
