CERTIFICATON PROCESS FAQ’s
-
Mat certification allows you to teach Pilates using just a mat — no equipment. Reformer certification qualifies you to teach on the reformer in studios or private sessions. Comprehensive certification includes all five apparatus (mat, reformer, tower/cadillac, chair, and barrel) and prepares you to work with a full range of clients and needs.
-
Yes. Most people start with mat or reformer and build from there. You can always upgrade to comprehensive by taking additional apparatus courses.
-
Yes — the anatomy course is required before testing out. It ensures you understand movement from the inside out and gives you the tools to teach safely and confidently. It’s online, self-paced, and you can start it anytime.
-
It depends on your pace. The in-person course takes two weekends, and you can complete your supplemental hours over the next few months, depending on your schedule.
-
Yes — you’ll complete a practical exam once your hours are finished. It’s designed to show that you can teach real people safely and effectively, not to trick you.
-
They’re the real-world experience you log after the course. You’ll move through the work in your own body, watch others teach, and practice teaching yourself.
-
Personal practice means doing the exercises in your own body. Observation means watching instructors teach real clients or classes. Practice teaching means you teach someone while getting feedback — it can be a friend, a classmate, or a client.
-
Because knowing exercises isn’t enough — you need to embody them, watch how bodies respond, and learn how to communicate the work. This is what makes you a great teacher.
-
Yes to both. If you’re local, you can apply for our apprenticeship program. If not, we’ll help you figure out how to complete your hours at another approved studio.
-
You can begin observation and personal practice once you’re enrolled, but practice teaching must wait until after you complete the course.
-
We provide tracking sheets you’ll fill out and submit when you’re ready to test out. It’s simple and organized.
-
That’s totally normal. You can move at your own pace — most people take a few months (even up to a year!) after the course ends to complete their hours.
-
Our Mat and Reformer Courses are offered once every two or so months. The other apparatus are only offered 2 or three times per year so if you are planning to do a comprehensive certification, try to make sure you sign up well in advance as spots are more limited in those.
-
We strongly recommend attending the full course, but if something unavoidable comes up, you can join another training completely free of charge!
